Dual-use autonomous legged robots that deliver real-time intelligence where humans and wheeled robots can't operate.
Xterra Robotics builds full-stack autonomous legged robots that provide the mobility layer for the physical world. These systems deliver real-time intelligence for missions in unsafe, inaccessible, or uneconomical environments where humans, wheels, and tracks cannot operate. Legged robots (quadrupeds and humanoids) are the only scalable form factor for navigating existing human-built and natural environments. By owning the full stack, the company is building a platform that scales across Defense, Energy, Infrastructure Inspection, Disaster Response, and Security.
INR 72 lakhs raised via grants and institutional support from IIT Kanpur, IHFC IIT Delhi, and ITEL Chennai.
We have six published patents covering high-torque actuators and low-inertia leg mechanisms.
Launched India's first commercial quadruped robot, SVAN M2. First to complete deployment of autonomous quadruped robot for automating audit inspection. Best Presentation Award at Abhivyakti 2025, IIT Kanpur. Nominated as Most Innovative Startup at ASEAN 2024 held at Bali. Awarded Social Innovation Lab Grant from Citi Bank and IIT Kanpur.
Xterra Robotics was founded by engineers and researchers from India's top institutes (IITs, IISC) with roots in advanced mobile robotics and national defense programs. The 15-member team, including ex-DRDO scientists, IIT professors, PMRF PhD fellows, and industry veterans, builds autonomous legged robots for defense and high-impact civilian applications, addressing a gap in indigenous capabilities.
