Deploying fuel stations in space for life extension of satellites
Founded in 2021 and funded by the Government of Tamil Nadu, OrbitAID Aerospace is an India-based space-tech company focused on transforming how satellites are maintained and serviced in orbit. The company develops advanced on-orbit servicing and refuelling technologies to extend satellite life, improve mission efficiency, and reduce operational costs. By building a constellation of tanker satellites and a complete in-space propellant supply chain for LEO, GEO, cis-lunar, and deep-space missions, OrbitAID aims to enable longer-lasting spacecraft, minimize space debris, and create a more sustainable orbital ecosystem.
$1.5 million in pre-seed funding by the government of Tamil Nadu (through StartupTN) and Unicorn India Ventures. This makes OrbitAID the first Indian space startup to be funded by a state government of India.
Granted patent in docking and refueling interface for upcoming satellites. Patent filed for docking using robotic arm for already existing satellites.
