CRISPR-modified Chicken PGCs: A High-Yield Egg Bioreactor System for Recombinant Protein Production

Patents & IP

Filed Indian Provisional Patent Application No. 202131001733 titled “PGC Conservation of Indian Aseel and Kadaknath Chickens via Single-Host Double Chimera Technology,” invented by Dr. Adnan Naim, Dr. S. K. Mishra, and Dr. D. Nayak.

Awards & Achievements

The platform uses CRISPR to design and deliver Cas9 and guide RNA into chicken cells via viral vectors, transfection, or microinjection, enabling precise gene editing and knock-in generation through donor template–guided DNA repair. Edited germ cells are introduced into embryos to produce chickens that lay eggs containing targeted recombinant proteins, creating a simple, scalable bioreactor system for biologics production.
