Diagnostics depend on sample quality and detection, but most innovation focuses only on detection. Poor samples limit accuracy and waste India's extensive infectious-disease testing capacity, including over 30,000 TB microscopy centers. MagnaSlide improves this by capturing and concentrating *M. tuberculosis* before testing, enabling near-molecular performance using existing infrastructure. The polymer coating selectively binds TB bacteria, concentrating 3 mL of sputum into 0.1 mL and reaching 500 CFU/mL sensitivity. In a 60-patient HIV-coinfected study, sensitivity exceeded 90% with full concordance to GeneXpert Ultra. MagnaSlide processes samples in 10 minutes without power and costs ₹200. The platform can also be adapted for other pathogens.
