Materializing a Cleaner Reality
Founded in 2016 by IIT alumni, Chakr Innovation is a cleantech and material science company combating air pollution through patented solutions. Its RECD, Chakr Shield, cuts diesel emissions by up to 90%, alongside fuel, NOx, dust suppression, monitoring, and aluminium-air clean energy innovations.
Secured multi-stage funding and grants including INR 25 million each from Indian Oil Corporation and IDFC PARAMPARA Fund, followed by INR 135 million Series A from IAN Fund, ONGC, and others. Raised INR 500 million Series B led by SBI Capital Ventures, which later doubled its total investment to INR 1 billion, alongside INR 550 million from British International Investment and INR 180 million debt from EXIM. The company further scaled with USD 23 million Series C funding led by Iron Pillar.
Chakr Innovation holds a portfolio of over 50 patents, of which 8 have been granted while the remaining are filed and under evaluation. The granted patents include: A System for Microwave-Based Regeneration in Diesel Engines; Particulate Matter Filter Assembly; A Decontamination Apparatus; Non-Return Valve for Low Pressure and High Temperature Gases; Integrated Safety Unit; Apparatus for Diesel Exhaust Soot Extraction and Processing; An Improved Exhaust Gas Reduction System and Method Thereof; and Catalyst Containing Electrodes.
Recipient of the Economic Times Social Enterprise Award 2025 and MB100 (UK) 2025. Also honoured as UNEP’s Young Champion of the Earth (Asia Pacific) and NITI Aayog’s Champions of Change for pioneering air quality and environmental sustainability innovations through the Chakr Shield RECD.
